A total of 23 projects with attraction of foreign investments in the amount of $ 230 million is planned for implementation in the Syrdarya region in 2018-2019. That will ensure the creation of 2.8 thousand jobs

In accordance with the instructions voiced at the June 21 videoconference meeting under the chairmanship of the President of Uzbekistan, four other projects for $ 114.2 million are also planned to be completed, negotiations with foreign partners are under way to attract another $ 421 million.

To date, talks have been conducted with 25 foreign companies. As a result, the joint venture NCJ Engineering Boyovut was established in Bayavut district in cooperation with South Korean partners. In 2018-2022, foreign capital worth $ 300 million will be invested here and about 10,000 new jobs will be created.

As a result of negotiations with the Singaporean Indorama, the organization of cotton clusters in the Akaltyn and Sardoba districts is planned in an area of 30 thousand hectares. In accordance with the agreement with the Chinese company Kubey Industries, in the Sayhunabad district, a project valued at $ 10 million for the production of building materials from stems of cotton and cane is intended to implement.

Since early this year, foreign investments in the amount of $ 30.2 million have been attracted to the region. Dehqonobod Asl Anori enterprise for processing pomegranate and Fly Led Group for the production of energy-saving lamps were put into operation.

During the regional delegation’s trips to Germany, China, Kazakhstan, Turkey in 2017-2018, a memorandum on attracting foreign investments in the amount of $ 293 million for 31 projects and 1 contract for exports of products for $ 1.2 million were signed.

In order to intensify the work in this direction, on July 22-27 this year, a delegation of entrepreneurs headed by the regional hokim deputies made a business trip to Turkey. It held talks with the governor of Ankara and Turkish businesspeople on joint procurement and processing of agricultural goods, production of building materials and knitted merchandise. As a result of the talks, 10 memorandums were inked, 13 memorandums are under legal expertise at the moment.

Particular attention is paid in the region to construction and improvement works. In the city of Gulistan, a park in the oriental style is being created, with the monument Mourning Mother erected. At the foot of the monument, for the creation of which 9 billion soums (currency rates of CB RU from 07.09.2018, 1$= 7842.93 soums) has been spent, the Eternal Flame is installed in the center of the marble slabs. A variety of ornamental trees and flowers have been planted in the park. Also, two wide terraces are constructed, harmoniously combining the achievements of modern design and the traditions of national architecture. One of them houses the installed Book of Memory, containing the inscribed names of 3,770 Syrdarya residents who died on the battlefields of the Second World War.

The alley on Islam Karimov Street in Gulistan was also reconstructed, the Bilimdonlar Markazi named after Alisher Navoi began to operate. All conditions for the youth are created in the complex. Here, there is a book store, flower shops, special terraces for readers. During his trip to the Syrdarya region in May this year, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with representatives of creative intelligentsia, social sphere, youth, and got acquainted with the conditions created here.

At the initiative of the head of state, in cooperation with Chinese partners, a park of Uzbek-Chinese friendship was established in the Syrdarya region. Within the framework of the project, 14 hectares of territory were landscaped, modern buildings and facilities, a stadium, a swimming pool, a decorative Chinese terrace, children’s attractions, a hotel, a training center, a supermarket, restaurants of Chinese and Uzbek national cuisine were built and commissioned. The park will serve to further strengthen the friendly cultural and spiritual ties between the Chinese and Uzbek peoples, to boost economic cooperation.

In the current year, it was planned to build 904 affordable standard-design houses in the region, and the works are complete. Systemic efforts are in progress to identify and address the problems of low-income and needy families, ensure the dynamic activity of social facilities, primarily healthcare and education institutions.

In 2018, the construction and reconstruction of facilities worth $ 21.4 million is intended owing to loans from international and foreign financial institutions; currently $ 15.2 million have been disbursed. In particular, for the purpose of reconstructing sewer systems and improving water supply in the districts and cities, the works worth $ 8.6 million were completed. It is also planned to modernize the Farhad Hydropower Plant for $ 2.8 million and upgrade the power units of the Syrdarya Thermal Power Plant for $ 10 million.
